Manage Discoveries

This section describes how to edit and delete discoveries.

Edit a discovery

You can edit information, including discovery name, location, and tags, for active and passive discoveries. Discovery behavior varies depending on the information you edit:

  • New location: discovery runs on Minions on the new location. This will create new nodes (same IP Address, but different location).

  • Updated tags: new tags are added to previously discovered nodes. Old tags are not removed.

  • Updated SNMP information: node scan runs again for all the nodes (existing/new) with new SNMP credentials.

When you save an edited active discovery, it runs again immediately, and then every 24 hours thereafter.

To edit a discovery, follow these steps:

  1. In the list of discoveries, click the one you want to edit.

  2. Change the information you want to update and click Save Discovery.

Delete a discovery

Deleting a discovery does not delete the nodes that the discovery identified. They will still appear in the inventory Lōkahi/Cloud is monitoring. However, that discovery will no longer run, and you will no longer discover new nodes on the IP address ranges or subnets you configured with that discovery.

Note that if you delete a discovery that is running, it will stop running on the Minion.

To delete a discovery, follow these steps:

  1. In the list of discoveries, click the one you want to delete.

  2. Click the delete icon and confirm deletion.
